ICABC releases consultation summary and detailed member survey results

April 11, 2012 – ICABC releases consultation summary and detailed member survey results
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia (ICABC) has released a summary report of its comprehensive consultation process, including detailed results of its member survey. Results indicate that a majority of respondents to the member survey (53 percent) would likely endorse a recommendation to the BC government to proceed with merger restructuring if it is supported by other key stakeholders.

ICABC’s stakeholder consultation included accounting firms, CA Training offices, public representatives, employers and clients, academics and regulators from the BC Securities Commission, all of which indicated support for unification.

April 3, 2012 – Update on status of BC member surveys
On March 30, CGA-BC issued details of its recent all-member survey that was held in mid-March. A total of 2,799 CGA members (27.5% of the total 10,181 members) responded to the survey. The results indicate that 84.03% of those responding are very or somewhat supportive of the merger as presented in the unification framework.

CA BC is now completing their member consultation and reviewing the results, expecting to release preliminary results in the next couple of weeks.

The survey of CMA BC members is currently underway. The survey will be complete by the end of April at which time an overview of the results will be provided to members.
