Not-for-profit certificate I: Foundational concepts
Charities and not-for-profits make significant contributions to the Canadian economy. That’s why the sector needs skilled professionals who have financial acumen with a strong understanding of the unique distinctions between for-profit and not-for-profit (NFP) organizations. In this seven-course program, you’ll build skills in key areas of NFP finance, accounting and governance to achieve maximum impact. You’ll learn how to confidently support the long-term financial success and sustainability of your organization with practical and proven strategies. The program’s features 40 hours of flexible online learning with built-in knowledge checks and a final assessment.

- Fund Accounting
- Deferral Method of Revenue Recognition
- Endowments and Other Key NFP Concepts
To earn the certificate, you must complete all seven courses. Although Not-for-Profit Certificate I: Foundational Concepts is designed primarily for newcomers to the not-for-profit world, it’s recommended that you have a base understanding of business and financial management prior to enrollment.
