J. Paul Havey

As Chief Financial Officer, Paul contributes to strategy development and is responsible for all financial matters, financial planning, operational support (facilities, travel, printing, copyright, digitalization, accessibility), implementation of CPA Canada’s ESG strategy, enterprise and third-party risk management, business continuity management and all compliance matters. Paul has a mandate to drive transformative change and strengthen CPA Canada’s financial position and performance, in conjunction with the senior leadership of CPA Canada.
Paul is the Pension Investment Management Committee chair and primary staff liaison to the Finance, Audit and Risk (FAR) Committee of CPA Canada. Paul is also the CPA Canada liaison to CPA Professional Liability Plan Inc. through the CPA Professional Liability Insurance Committee.
Throughout his career in the non-profit, charity and association sectors, high technology start-ups and telecommunications, Paul has managed transformative change, achieving financial and business results while effectively interacting with staff, boards and members.
Paul is a strong advocate for mental and physical health. Today, he sits on the Boards of the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health as the FAR Committee vice-chair, and the Canadian Lung Association as a Strategic Planning Committee member and the FAR Committee chair.
