BIOGRAPHY
Don joined the CPA Canada Board as a Public Member in September 2024. He is also a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee and the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee of the Board of Directors.
Don has completed the Director Education Program through the Rotman School and is a certified ICD.D from the Institute of Corporate Directors. Don is a retired Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants and has completed executive programs at Northwestern, MIT, and Stanford. In addition to providing wide-reaching services to his clients, Don has been, and is now, a member of several private company and non-profit boards.
With over 35+ years of experience, Don has developed a solid reputation and exceptional expertise in transforming organizations through organizational assessment and design, business process innovation, and strategic and operational planning. He is well known for his highly effective facilitation of complex organizational renewal and strategy for Executive Management Teams and Executive Committees, Boards, and Councils.
Don is passionate about education and enjoys teaching others and sharing his extensive knowledge and experience. He is a respected adviser to numerous Boards in assisting in the development of dynamic practices to help improve the performance of the Board’s governance system. In addition to crown, municipal and private company boards, Don has worked with a variety of association, regulatory and community-based boards.
Don has a strong commitment to lifelong learning and has augmented this as a Sessional Instructor in the University of Alberta's MBA Program and in the Executive Program specializing in Governance, Strategy and Organizations.
