CPA Canada wins awards, CPAB appoints first woman as board chair

CPA CANADA WINS MORE EIFLE AWARDS
CPA Canada earned two 2019 Excellence in Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) awards recently, bringing the total wins up to 11 over the past six years.
The publication, Babie$: The Real Story of How Much They Cost, topped the Adults’ Book of the Year: General category and the project “Disability: Accessing Your Benefits” won the Adults’ Education Program of the Year: Money Management category.

“It’ s an honour to have our work recognized, and to hear throughout the conference that CPA Canada’ s financial literacy program is standard setting on both sides of the border,” said Thompson.
Now in its 12th year, the EIFLE Awards are hosted annually by the Institute for Financial Literacy, a non-profit organization based in the U.S.
CPAB APPOINTS FIRST WOMAN AS BOARD CHAIR
The Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB) recently announced the appointment of Benita Warmbold, FCPA, FCA, as chair of its board of directors, effective March 18.
Warmbold has been a member of the board since 2011 and is the former senior managing director and CFO of Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. She has been on the Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 list three times and was inducted into the WXN Hall of Fame in 2016. Warmbold succeeds outgoing chair Nick Le Pan.
Sheila Fraser, FCPA, FCA, was named as one of the two new directors appointed to the board. Fraser was the auditor general of Canada from 2001-2011 and was the first woman to hold this position. She also sits on the board for the International Federation of Accountants and was appointed as an Officer in the Order of Canada in 2018.
